Preppy means like you wear like polos, ralph lauren the sweater the perfect example of preppy also tennis players and golf players also those people who go to country clubs.
sometimes it's cool because to dress like that is kinda expensive and they are like the rich people How can you become go to stores like lacoste and raplh lauren or look at the fashion line your journey will begin.

Be who you are! Seriously, it was like that in the small town I went to high school in and all those people are still there doing nothing, working as waitresses in the same little retaurants...High school mentality means nothing. Wear what YOU like. People have more respect for that. and if they don't, well, why would you want to be friends with people that only like you because of what you are wearing? How shallow!

By the way, I came from the Preppy household in the preppy neighborhood and I did my best to NOT be preppy, there's the other side of the coin!

I believe that a preppy has lived a certain way throughout their lives and that they don't even recognize themselves, as to ..."What a preppy is"......Just because they have likely had a fairly easy life, attend... and may have the best of everything that they own, to blame them for that is not necessarily the right thing to do. Maybe it would be like winning the lottery and all of a sudden you can buy whatever you want....would others see you as being a 'preppy'...or would you be the same old you because you know what it's like to be without? (I wouldn't mind finding out!)

Preppy is often uncool. Preppy just means spoiled kids who get money from mommy and daddy and go and shop at Abercrombie & Fitch and American Eagle and stuff. Why would you want to be cool? Be yourself. If you just want to fit in with a group of preppy people, DON'T. They have to be some of the most annoying people in the world.
If you still want to, then go to PacSun or whatever and buy some clothes and flip flops, die your hair blonde and start using the word "like" a lot. Also, act clueless.

no wrong. preppy has nothing to do with being a cheerleader. prep is a term that comes from 'college prepatory school.' basically it describes the people that go to these private schools that are very costly and, for the most part, require uniforms. The term has since expanded to include people that wear clothes that exemplify good breeding and money. I.E. Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, etc.

Don't become preppy. Preps are usually people who like school and encourage people to make it a better place. Preps think they're better than everyone else. They think they're cool and they're not. Be your own person and not a stuck-up snob in a plaid skirt and a polo shirt (very plain clothing, very ugly.)

Most real preps don't become preppy. They are born/raised that way and it's the way their parents are. They don't think they're better than everyone because everyone they know is like them. They aren't snobby like people think, just kind of hang out with people like them. Like everybody else, they are kind of uncomfortable being around things that they don't know about. They are just like everybody else, but in better clothes.

not every prep is the stero type preppy is some one who acts girlie and likes make up but you dont have to be preppy to be popular there are alot of people in my school that are not prep that are popular because of movies and stuff like that everyone thinks that we are royal brats but thats not true so dont change yourself to try to fit in be you and if people dont like it owell thats thier problem take it from a TRUE prep
