This has actually happened. In the 50's Pirate's pitcher named Harvey Haddoux, pitched a perfect game thru 9 innings, and then lost the game in extra innings when he gave up the winning run.

The other team's pitcher also pitched 9 perfect innings and the first pitcher lost in extra innings.

Well, obviously the answer is that the game went into extra innings. But I wanted to address what one person answered...you can't pitch a perfect game and have anyone get on base, for any reason. That incudes a catcher dropping strike three and the batters reaching first safely. That would end the perfect game.

Your answer: I stay close to the Mariners so a loss particularly is a loss. That pronounced, individual performances can overshadow a loss. Ichiro (who's on my delusion baseball team) had 3 stolen bases the day previous, at the same time as the Ms have been given whipped by utilising the Rangers. i became happy he did properly, yet a splash PO'd that Neftali Feliz (additionally on my FFB team) did no longer get to pitch. For FFB sake, I hate better innings till a) my participant gets the winning run/RBI or b) my pitchers pitch clean innings. a important sort of offensive stats circulate down for the time of better innings, at the same time as protective (i.e. pitching) can circulate up. different than for the uncommon run-for-run contests. in the tip, it is purely a game. Being on the west coast, I hate following it into the middle of the evening just to have the Ms - ahem, any team - lose in the tip. it particularly is time i'm going to on no account get better. P.S. I actually have fun with the walk-off, from the two area, and it particularly is particularly exciting whilst the batter gets harm leaping on living house plate.

The game went to extra innings and either a new pitcher came in or the pitcher let up runs in the overtime.

The game went into extra innings. or he was not the starting pitcher and he came into the game after the starter gave up 3 runs.

He pitched nine perfect innings but the game went into extra innings where either he or relievers allowed 3 runs.

Of course the game went into extra innings. You could lose 50 - 49 in this scenario.
