The biggest drain on your budget will be the everyday purchases that you make. Transportation of goods will add to the cost paid to the consumer in all but the southwest corner of the province. The more isolated and remote you are, the more things will cost.
The same condition exists in Alaska. Since there is little manufacturing, expansive physical geography, and sparse population, goods tend to be very expensive. While not as severe as Alaska, you will face the same issues in British Columbia.
Good luck with your budget.

Do you mean British Columbia or Baha California? BC canada is no longer the value to American citizens that it once was because of the currency valuations. BC Mexico is still a value to live for US citizens, but safety is a huge concern as is the whole illegal alien issue firing up in the border states. Since both are called BC, I'm not certain what specifically you are referring to and don't know whether you mean cost of living or owning property.

Yes and No! Housing is our major expense. However, due to the temperate climate in the central & southern areas of the province, our heat and electric bills are less than most anywhere else. Everything else in pretty well on par with the rest of Canada except for Alberta where this is no provincial sales tax.
