Windows XP: it seems my .gif and .wav files have turned BLUE text like system files. Everything seems to work ok and doing properties shows nothing different than a normal file.

any ideas ?

The problem is solved. The files in blue have the box checked to compress the file.

Bacause they have been compressed. You have your hard drive set to compress old files to save space. This also happens when you do a disk clean up - they get compressed. Nothing to worry about.

This files are "protected" file that windows does not allow you to mess with
