Most countries in the world have had at least one woman President, Queen or Prime Minister, including some Muslim countries (even though current propaganda in the USA tells us women in Muslim countries are mistreated).

Do you think the USA is ready for it? I think not, and I suspect together with Uganda and Saudi Arabia we may well be the last nations on Earth not to have one.

presidential qualifications should never be based on whether you are a man or a woman ( and i'm not saying this just because i'm female) but it seems that in the u.s. there is too much of a divide, between pro-gun culture and anti, pro-war and anti, pro-racism and anti, among others, that if the majority of voters are in the pro sections, there will not be a female president there for a long time.

unfortunately it seems as if the divide is always going to be split over violence, and if people want a certain amount of violence, be it war or gun-control or whatever, then women are going to be seen as a species who will try to quash that belief and "right".

I think the US has been ready for a female president for the last decade. But it's just the fact that there are some very sexist men in the White House who don't want to have to be beneath a woman that prevents this from happening. Sometimes, female presidents are viewed as a sign of weakness and I believe it has been this ideology that has contributed to the US only having male presidents in its history. However, time and time again, it has been proven that women are just as capable of men and do have what it takes to handle the pressures of being the head of state. I believe that the US is ready for a female president, but I believe that the zealously sexist men that currently reside in the White House and those that hold positions of power will make it very difficult for any woman to even try. However, it has been rumored that Hillary Rodham Clinton will be running in the 2008 elections and I believe that the American people should put their full support behind her because she has proven that she is a strong leader and able democrat.

I would be happy with anyone who is:

Not white
Not from the south
Not a rich spoiled bastard

So if someone comes alone who is a woman and posses all the qualitities of an amazing leader - then let it happen. We're moving foward here guys! There's already been women leaders in several countries, like the Phillippeans - why not the United States. Let's be open and progressive - our girld need someone to look up to besides Paris Hilton!

The country is probably ready. I'd vote for a woman if I agreed with her positions on important issues, but I wouldn't vote for her just because she's a woman.

thats because the men is this country are chauvinist. They think a woman cannot do the job as good as they can. I think that maybe we should try having a woman president. Can't be no worse that BUSH

woman, I think maybe 2012. A Republican - Republican vote, some women & moderates will vote for first woman - but I do not think Republicans men or women would ever vote for Hillary in 2008 or 2012.

I am sorry to say that i believe that there are some freaky people out there that would not let her "take office" if you get my drift? She would not make it to the podium before there would be a rappid fire of bullets

that is my opinion, not what i would do, but possibly what would happen?
