Best guitarist ever is Jimi Hendrix. He wrote the rule book on rock guitar and produced music that was years ahead of it's time. Listen to 'Electric Ladyland' and tell yourself that this was recorded in 1968....

Hard to say. My top 3 are
Jimi Hendrix: He needs no explanation
Frank Zappa: He influenced a lot of people, and came up with the craziest lines this side of Saturn.
Chuck Berry: Yeah, sure, Clapton, Page, Eddie Van Halen, Dimebag Darrell, et. al might have more TECHNICAL mastery, but Chuck Berry invented the sound of Rock & Roll. He influenced all of these guys. When he dies, just about every famous rocker will be at his funeral, and Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon will rise from the grave and be there. EVERYBODY has heard that opening riff from Johnny B. Goode. That and a whole bunch more is why he's one of the greats.

The correct answer is of course Jimi Hendrix.
I bet someone has already answered your question but I thought I would confirm it in case any one gave a daft, incorrect answer like Eric Clapton or someone out of Busted.

Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton! Talented as h***. However, I really like Jimi Hendrix and especially liked his rendition of the "Star Bangled Banner".
