I've recently started dating someone and I'm wondering what things we can do to get to know each other better. We're both in our twenties.

Observe how this person treats others when it's only you around as well as when there are lots of people around. How do they treat service people, i.e. waiters, sales clerks? How do they relate to members of their own family? How do they relate to people who can help them in the workplace/school classes vs. how they treat other people at their work or school who have no effect on their position? Reflect on how they use their senses around you. Two ears, one mouth...do they listen to what you have to say and think about what to answer, or do they butt in and have an answer already formed before you finish the question? Two eyes, two hands, do they observe and comment on how you look, what they like about you and do they touch you in a comforting way? Go to a video store and separate, then each pick 3 DVD's, then compare choices and decide if their tastes are similar to yours. Then choose which three you'll check out, somebody will get two choices to one (unless you both really agree and pick the same one accidently, great!!) . Get two copies of TV guide and two hi-lighters. Both of you go thru separately and hilight your favorite TV shows, then compare lists. These are all superficial things but may help in your insight into their inner person.

You could always play 20 questions, each person takes turns asking the other person 20 questions. Usually you will end up getting lost in conversations about your past, beliefs, plans, values etc. And if they conversation dies, have the other person start.

However I think most real, and raw way to learn about someone is by living with them. Or maybe by taking a camping trip?

First of all find out alittle about their background, their dislikes, and likes,. Just spending time getting to know each other go to the movies, walks, nothing too serious, don't jump in the water without a lifejacket

Talking to each other, finding out what each other like or dislikes are and try dating. And try to learn to trust each other.
