~~if you can get your doc to write out a script, Fioricet works pretty good, Methocarbomol works sometimes, and as far as over the counter Excedrin Migraine and Dramamine together, with an ice pack on your forehead and a heating pad on your neck, (at the same time) lay quiet in a dark room, and pray.~~

also as far as herbal goes, get Cayenne pepper in capsule form... that helps too.

i get those nasty headaches too... hope you feel better soon.

I have suffered from migraines since I was 6 years old, I am now 22. I finally went to visit a neurologist when I was getting migraines 2-3 times a week. The most important thing I learned is that everyone's migraines are different. Some people's are triggered by certain foods, some women's are triggered by their menstrual cycles, some people's are triggered by something as simple as a change in their daily routine (I would always get mine on my days off of work or if I overslept). No one here can give you the answer you need. Please visit a neurologist and see what they can do for you, there are wonderful medications they can give you that you can take at the first sign of a migraine that will stop it in it's tracks with no drowsiness (this works for most people). Also, there is preventative medication. I am on Topomax, which has been a miracle drug, I have been migraine free for 2 months. WHAT A CHANGE! Also, be careful with Fiorcet, a lot of primary care physicians like to hand it out, but it is highly, highly addictive. I hope this has helped. Migraines can be an incredibly debilitating problem. Migraines are usually triggered by a number of things. Mainly cheese/dairy and chocolate. I used to have migraines everyday when I went to school and my mother thought that I was trying to get away from chores.

I later learnt that it could have been cheese and chocolate. Two things which I practically ate everyday ( cheese sandwich and some form of chocol;ate) When I began limiting them they went away.

Right now, I only get migraines if I do not get enough sleep or if gas goes to my head when I do not eat on time.

If you are on the go, wind down your car window and enjoy the breeze. Fresh air triggers endorphines which heps to cool your migraine.

Eat and then sleep in a dark, quiet room. Remember, if you take tylenol or whatever it is do not take on an empty stomach.

Hope this helps
R

I know that you said that meds don't help you, but have you tried Ibuprofen for starters? I do the 4 Ibuprofen at a time, too! Then I go straight to bed in a dark room and sleep.

I am a licensed Pharmacy Tech, (NOT a Pharmacist!), but I can say that there are prescription medications made specifically for migraines that might help you. Since you get them so often, it might be worthwhile to look into those. Good luck!

Ok, this is going to sound bizarre, but I think he's onto something. Read "The MindBody Prescription" by Dr. John Sarno. It saved me from having MAJOR back and neck surgery.

When my nephew called me shortly thereafter with a migraine I talked him through it and it aborted it.

When you feel a migraine coming on, think of what you are feeling. Think of who has pissed you off in the past. Think of what makes you upset. Think of why those things do that. Think of how unfair they are. Think of your parents, your school, your financial situation, your spouse, your kids, your job, your weight. Think about whatever it is that bothers you long and hard, because guess what, THAT is what is causing you your migraines.

I don't mean think about it a little, I mean think about it a lot. REALLY dig in to those scary places you don't want to go and you might find some answers you are looking for.

I got rid of my ver bad migraines after I had my wisdom teeth extracted. I do not know whether it will work for her. To lay still in a dark room with complete silence it helped a bit.

to be honest, i used to have to take 4 ibuprofen at a time, and put one of those "kool strips" on my forehead (it's a fever reducing patch for children). That worked for awhile, but then I was put on Inderal LA which is a medication for various heart stuff, including blood pressure, and that helped immensly for a month or so, no headaches whatsoever. Then that stopped working, so now I am HCTZ, which is a water pill that helps my blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure, you might be getting migranes from that.

I have also taken Imitrex, that stuff is good!! 25mgs didn't work for me, but 50mgs did. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR, they can help you out immensly with migranes

have you ever tried an herbal medicine called gel-stat? you can get it at walgreens. I get migraines, too, and normal medicines don't help me, either. Good Luck!
