Try using vinegar. Dip a cloth in the vinegar and scrub the iron. You can wipe the iron off with a clean wet cloth if you want to make sure the vinegar smell doesn't get on your clothes.

Your iron hasn't been marked by dark clothing i think of you could desire to have had the iron too warm on an identical time as ironing something and you have burnt it. turn your iron on a low placing, get a textile and moist it in a warm water with washing up liquid in it and use the textile to rub the backside of the iron. basically remember to fold the textile up a lot of circumstances with a view to guard your palms from the nice and comfortable floor of the iron on an identical time as you're rubbing it.

Fine grade steele wool or baking soda and warm with a soft cloth.
Hint make sure you clean in the holes (steam irons) and iron something (like scrap fabric) before you iron something nice. I forgot once and went to iron a shirt to go out and gunk from in the holes got all over my shirt and ruined it.

You can buy a product to clean irons. I think it's made by one of the companies that makes starch and fabric finishers. It comes in a package of two small tubes.

I use a product - I think it's made by "Faultless" - Hot Iron Cleaner. I usually find it hanging on one of those little displays in the middle of the laundry aisle. it's worked great for me! Good luck!
