although ovulation cycles vary, generally speaking 1 week before you start is when most woman ovulate. Your period starts after your body has completed ovulation and you did not conceive, so contrary to what some uneducated people are telling you about being able to get pregnant while on your period(unless you have an irregular cycle or other medical problems) The best thing you could do is try to find out when your body ovulates, it should be the week or so before your period starts, but it can vary. They have home kits you can use to find out when you are ovulating and even though I am sure that you want to know so that you may have "permission" to have unprotected sex, remember about the risks involved, like getting HIV/AIDS. That is a disease that cannot be cured and WILL kill, so be careful and the very best you can do if you won't abstain is use protection.

Semen can live up to SEVEN DAYS inside the vagina. So if you happen to ovulate after unprotected sex, you have a good chance of conception. If you dont wanna get pregnant, use a condom or get on some sort of birth control..
