NBA live 05 is better in my opinion, it has the All Star weekend mode, with a slam Dunk contest, 3-Point Shootout and the Rookie vs. Sophomores game. It has freestyle contron
If you like relistic games NBA Live is very realistic, but NBA 2k5 is one of those arcade type games which is all about scoring. So if you are one of those people who like to score 150 points a game. go with 2K5. It is hard to score 100 points on lLive.

NBA 2K5 got better reviews and, in my personal opinion, is more fun.
