Well, for starters, the other people at the poker table would assume you have no idea what you're talking about. But in poker, that might be a good thing.

Good question...but Mr Shakespeare has beaten you to it when he asked if a rose would still smell so sweetly if called by another name (in Romeo and Juliet). Who knows, but I can't imagine the rose smelling sweetly if it was called 'turnip'. Nor would I want to see a knight fighting the enemy off with a rake. But if you told a foreigner who doesn't know the word for spade that it's called 'rake', they would continue using the word 'rake' for 'spade' until someone started laughing and explained it to them. We only know the difference because we are accustomed to the two words meaning two distinctly different things...to us English speaking people they represent object, while for someone without the command of the language they are just words. You don't have to call a spade a spade by law, but you would get a few funny looks (in the least) if you called it a rake. I have to go now, as i'm starting to confuse myself.

Its called Absolute Truth. A rake is a rake. If you take a rake and want to call it a spade just because you think it is a spade, then that is called relativism...Truth is truth...whether you believe it or not.

Nothing would happen, it depends on the root of argument. God made man, where did a woman come from? Note that the word woman is not mentioned in topics targeting mankind or humans in general. Therefore, it all depends on what you want to put across as the initiator of the argument.

Firstly it wouldn't come when you called it. You would have to throw in the trowel and give in to it's normal name.
Secondly the word police would come and collect you and make you shovel your own grave.

You would probably get clubbed. Not many people have big hearts about this sort of thing. Be safe; just collect all your diamonds and go home.
