I'm currently working as an assistant in our ' Training and Development' dept. The company I work for has been around for 21 years. They are very successful.
There are so many rules and regulations that go behind Telemarketing. Depending on what states/provinces you are calling.
I can tell you this, There is very little you can do to reduce the annoyance. There are expectations on the job. These include being aggressive yet polite, be assertive and persistent. Persistence is the one thing that will help you make the commission if that is how the company pays. Learn as much as you can about what your selling. You will sound more confident if you know what your talking about. It's can be a very frustating job. Don't let it show in your voice. Stay friendly and don't pause!! You pause...cust clicks!
If you want to talk some more...email me. I'll be glad to help.

i used to be a telemarketer 4 years ago and the only thing i can think to tell you is to be polite to your customers, when they tell you they aren't interested in something say thats ok and thank them for their time, don't push things on them if its for your benefit. if your given a script to go buy make sure you when your on with a someone you don't sound like a recording, that looses the interest of the person on the other end real fast.
i'm sure i can give you more tips from my telemarketing days but like i said its been about 4 years.

Telemarketers are classified as pests. Calling at annoying times of the day and not taking no for an answer.
I would definitely reconsider a career in this field after all you have no job advancement. Maybe try it and see how you like it - then look at a job in an incoming call centre (where they call you not you calling them).
Good luck with it and I hope you meet your sales target in the first month or you will be looking for another job.

i do no longer shop on with ECW plenty or have not been following Ezekiel's occupation plenty, yet i understand he has the dimensions & capability to make it and the look. he's a super, intimidating looking WWE megastar, WWE likes stars like that, if Ezekiel develops a competent wrestling variety and develops stable mic skills he would have an honest destiny in WWE, so i'd accept as true with Kane, and that i'd say Kane opinion potential plenty, pondering he's a veteran of the wrestling organization and has been interior the ring with the better of the terrific, like Stone chilly, HHH, and the Undertaker, and is prevalent with what it takes to triumph over adult adult males like that. If Kane sees some thing in Ezekiel then this is definitely a brilliant compliment for Ezekiel Jackson.

Find a job that does not involve tele-marketing if you don't want to annoy people. If you want to be effective you will be annoying but you must ask the kind of questions that people can't say no to and lead the to the logical decision... what ever you are selling is the answer. Just get a very thick skin or don't do it!
Good luck in your career choice.

Get ready to deal with a bunch of assholes... :)
I think I've listened to a telemarketer about two times out of the hundreds they've called... I listened to the first one because they sounded genuinely interested in what they were selling, and to the second because by her tone she gave off the image of being the nicest person in the world... Try those two things, and you might get more people to stay on the line with you. :)
Good luck with your new job... I'm sure you'll make it great. :)

Use a courtesy statement... "Good evening, my name is _____, I'm calling from "Acme Inc" and the purpose of my call is_____". I am constantly asked to verify my identity without the courtesy of the caller doing the same first.... THAT is annoying to me.
