I agree it is pretty much self-explanatory! Although some mother's have a different meaning for child support. "Child" being the key word here.....the money SHOULD go toward the welfare of the child. Although the child lives in your home, I don't think paying the rent with that money constitutes "CHILD SUPPORT" nor does paying gas and electric, or your phone bill, or cable bill. Some mothers take the money for themselves claiming they raise the child so they should get the money to do with whatever they want. That is totally wrong!! In my opinion child support means paying for the child's clothes, books or school supplies they might need for school, giving them spending money, doctor etc. You see it means for the CHILD, NOT the mother.
Most mothers are working, so they have their own paycheck to take care of the other bills that are HER responsibility!

The legal anwser is it's suppose to go toward the cost to raise the child ; which does include house paymnet electric cloths food etc...
To add to since reading others. IN most cases if you have a child you need a larger residence can't really live in a 1 bedroom apartment, child watch's t.v. eats hence cost more in food cost to do their home work need lights so I feel should go toward those expenses. Now I dont think the mom ; or dad should go out and buy themselves material crap with it though.

It's help with the support of your children .. if that means :
Bills
Food
Clothes
Shelter
Daycare/School
Pretty much anything the kids need that's what I would use the money for if my ex ever sent child support ... but until then I'll continue doing it on my own !

It should be used to take care of the kid(s). If paying a bill, like rent, lights, daycare, etc is included, then i think that is ok. It all benefits the child. Anything that benefits the child.

Child support is when the child lives with only one of the biological parents. The other must pay towards that child's well being. Ex.- food, clothing, toiletries and such.
