Start with the wide end on your right. Extend it about 12" below the narrow end.
Cross the wide end over the narrow, and back underneath.
Bring the wide end around passing it across the front of the narrow.
Pass the wide end up through the loop.
Hold the knot loosely and pass the wide end down through the loop in front.
Hold the narrow end of the tie and slide the knot up snug.

Stand in front of a mirror. Put the tie around your neck under your collar with the seam down. The tie has a wide and a narrow end. Put the narrow end about the middle of your chest. Take the wide end and go around the narrow end one time. Keep this loop loose. Now bring the wide end from behind the loop and put down through the middle. This makes a slide. Pull the narrow end until the slip knot is firm around the neck. Take a look. The wide end and the narrow end should be the same lenght. Tada.

It is easier to show, but here goes. Put the tie around your neck. Make the small side on the left and about 6" belo your neckline. Wrap the long side over the top of the short side. Bring it behind the left side.bring it up right next to your body and put the fat end in the little loop created by crossing over the top. Pull to make neat. Straighten out knot. Check for proper length and retie if needed.

It's hard to actually tell you how to tie one, but this website explains it pretty well. It shows you different knots and shows pictures of how to tie each one.
