AIM messages are included in text messages. So if you have 400 text messages a month lets say, you have 400 instant messages if you want! If you don't have a service you'll pay the usual fee, as in each instant message you send, they will bill you. So I suggest getting a messaging plan. The plans also cover picture and video messages. They have an unlimited one for $15/month. Other than that, they really shouldn't bill you for just having the service. I've never ever seen that on my bill and we've used AIM a lot.

Yes, they are counted as text messages. Adding to what the others have said above, using the AIM client on your T-Mobile phone can really eat into your text message bucket -- each message sent/received is a text message AND also any buddy list refreshing are text messages AND signing on and off also cost text messages. It'll eat up your text message bucket really quick -- unless you have the unlimited texting plan ($15).

OK i have a t-mobile phone and ...the only charge u have with aim is the text messages u send or rec and thats 10 cents per message.. ...Unless u have a monthly charge like 400 for 4.99 OR if u are in a family plan ..They now have a family plan ...Unlimited TEXT.. PICTURE messages in any family phone for 9.99..

CAREFUL, Each im sent or recieved counts as one text message, my bro didnt know and thought since aim download is free that the im's must be free, BIG mistake.

My sister has prepaid and her minutes don't get taken away so I wouldn't think so. I guess it's applied to the internet phone bill.
