YES, EACH IM YOU SENT COUNTS AS A TEXT MESSAGE. IF YOU HAVE MESSAGING BUNDLE, IT WOULD BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR TEXT MESSAGE

AIM messages are included in text messages. So if you have 400 text messages a month lets say, you have 400 instant messages if you want! If you don't have a service you'll pay the usual fee, as in each instant message you send, they will bill you. So I suggest getting a messaging plan. The plans also cover picture and video messages. They have an unlimited one for $15/month. Other than that, they really shouldn't bill you for just having the service. I've never ever seen that on my bill and we've used AIM a lot.

Yes, they are counted as text messages. Adding to what the others have said above, using the AIM client on your T-Mobile phone can really eat into your text message bucket -- each message sent/received is a text message AND also any buddy list refreshing are text messages AND signing on and off also cost text messages. It'll eat up your text message bucket really quick -- unless you have the unlimited texting plan ($15).

My sister has prepaid and her minutes don't get taken away so I wouldn't think so. I guess it's applied to the internet phone bill.
