Go to Add/Remove Hardware. Find your audio card. Do the troubleshooting (follow the bells and whistles, it's pretty easy). When it gets to the screen referring to drivers, reinstall the drivers. If that doesn't do the trick, go to the realtec website and look for the appropriate driver for your audio card. Drivers are another name for the software that make the hardware work as it should.
Good luck.

the first component i'd do is verify administration panel > sound and audio units to make effective no longer some thing is muted. in case you plug the headphones back in and also you get sound, then that is in all likelihood no longer the sound card. i understand you in all likelihood checked all of this, yet i am going to aspect out it besides... some pcs have on-board sound on the MB besides to a valid card. therefore you would have 2 available "eco-friendly" output ports to plug in the cable. make effective you're utilising the right one if it truly is the case. also, some modems have ports for sound also. make effective you aren't to any extent further mistakenly utilising one in each of those. I had an get jointly the position I fastened someones pc at my domicile and each thing worked completely. at the same time as the guy extra it domicile he suggested he had no sound. I went by skill of each thing back purely to make sure that the audio gadget he replaced into utilising had a activate them to pick on an "enter gadget." Do your audio gadget have one of those change? finally, if all else fails i'd only reinstall the sound card drivers. at the same time as you've them on a disc that got here with the computer. If no longer you could get them from Gateway or Realtek.

Knowing what computer you have (make, model) would be a good way to start. The manufacturer of your motherboard will have the drive posted on his site.
You could give it a guess at these:

the driver can be downloaded from the maker of your computer...i.e. Dell, EMachines, HP etc I believe it comes as an executable, self-installing file (save it to your desktop and double click to install

You probably removed the sound driver, re-install the driver and you get your sound back.
