The sky is blue because of a phenomenon called "Raleigh scattering", which happens when light (sunlight) is scattered by the particles in the sky (Nitrogen, Oxygen, etc) when it passes through them. Since these particles scatter blue light better than other colours, the sky is blue during a bright sunny day.

it's because of the electromagnetic spectrum. Blue light ( short wave lengths)is scattered more easily than any other. If the sky were blue at night that would imply that we are receiving sunlight at night. In the high latitudes they receive light at night, which makes me wonder about the definition of 'night'.

The sky is blue due to solar radiation being scattered by particulate in the atmosphere at near blue frequencies. There is no solar radiation at night, the earth blocks it out.
