You can also use the excuse that your having bad cramps, and it mkes your skin healthier. If it comes down to it you may have to go behind her back and use planned parenthood. They are free for most people and don't require parents consent.

Hi Lacey,
When I was your age, I was just the same as you, I think that you have just begun your period and it takes a little time to settle down.
A friend of mine who has just qualified to be a doctor told me that every medicine you take has side effects, even the little bottle you squeeze up your nose to clear it.
The pill is a strong medicine, I have heard it makes periods a bit easier and regulates them. You said you do not want a contraceptive so why go for the pill, couldn't you take the odd headache tablet when necessary, look into vitamins that help and put up with irregular periods, I don't think its a good idea to mess with nature unless you have a serious problem and honestly there are lots of girls in the same situation as you.
If you are not happy with my answer Id say go to your mom and have an open and frank talk with her, tell her what you have said here, as Mom's we like to think we are there for you when you need us and really do care like nobody else even though we don't always say what you want us to.
You know you can visit your doctor for advice and he has to keep the visit in confidence if you request that.
Its always good to talk to someone if you have a problem even just to get reassurance, hope this helps a little.

Just approach her and tell her the truth. Say you would like to regulate your periods by going on a birth control pill. You could try n put it to her in a manner where it's like "well, at least in a few years when Im ready to have sex I'll already be on the pill and at least you can rest easy knowiung nothing will happen." When my g/f went on birth control, she just straight up told her mom why she wanted it and her mom took her to group discussions (yes, they have them in most urban and sub-urban communities). You could also ask your physician knowing he has to maintain patient - doctor privacy. Know, though, that there are side effects to starting on the puill early and may make you think you're better off just continuinw/o it hehe.

At the docs they will do a pap smear. uncomfy but not painful. They will give u a pregnancy test and consult with you and your mom. Just sit her down and talk to her calmly and politely and tell her that u dont want to have sex you just want to regulate your period. Explain to her how heavy and crampy it is and how you heard that this 3 day pill will help control all that. If your period is irregular like mine it will be a blessing. I never knew when mine was coming and got stuck in more than a few embarrassing situations and would happily take any of my three girls down to the docs to get them as long as I knew it wasn't an excuse to start gettin jiggy wit it

How about just telling her all you need to , which is "mum can you take me to the doctors to discuss my irregular periods?" If the pills is suitable and the best way to correct this then the doctor will suggest it with your mum present. He may suggest some thing else, so make sure , you are definate about the reason to go on the pill.

The gp should talk you through your options, like what pill has what effects, or if there is an alternative. You don't say if there is a problem with your period, but if it is too heavy or painful, I doubt if your mum will kick up, especially if she has similair probs.
You could try evening primrose capsules, which suit most people.
Also diet and exercise help.

Your doctor at your check-up will ask your mother to leave the room, then he'll ask you if your having sex, taking drugs, etc. This is the time to talk to him about birth control.

As long as you fully realise what wanting your three day period will do to your body - long term hormone use, and that is what the pill is, is dangerous enough without starting it when you don't need it.
