Well, maybe not possessed, but all it takes lately is the very very slightest pressure on it and it types a "j"... it's extremely sensitive. What could it be and how do I fix it? It's getting very annoying having to press Backspace constantly because it types a j in the middle of a word. Every other key is fine.

Key sensitivities that are irregular always come from the keys itself. Therefore the first thing is to clean your keyboard. Even pop off the J key and make sure it's clean. Pop the key back in and make sure it's set in there correctly.

If this doesn't work, try a different keyboard to see if your problems are fixed. If not, then it may just be how you type that makes you believe the J key is sensitive.

There might be something on the contact (the button underneath the key) that is messing it up. Try popping off the buttons (can be done with a bit of gentle ease and a screw driver) and taking a look.

It could be sticky if you've spilled pop on your keyboard recently. That can make the button closer to the contact meaning less pressure is required to trigger the J key. Or it might be stuck to one of the adjacent keys, causing the j to come up when you hit it. Use some q-tips to help clean it out.

You can take out j key. Well the top of it. All it is a cap, all the keys on your keyboard are all caps, and when you press on it, the pressure applied pushes down on the key and it is processed by the computer. Pull off the cap of the j and see if anything's wrong.

It might be that you need to clean your keyboard, ie.. clean the spaces between the keyboard. Sometimes there may have been something feel between the space between the keys that may cause the key to have problems. If this does not work, you may need to buy a new one.

Detach the "J" key, inspect and/or clean it if needed.
If this doesn't work then the spring / metal clip may be dead, change it if you know how.
If none work go to buy a new one and replace it, because the keyboard is so cheap today you don't wanna spend your precious time on such piece of junk.

do what blairs_smirk said. if you do not find anything, the contact is probably loose and you will have to open the keyboard's innards up.

p.s.-if you are not a supergeekazoid, best to call a technician.
