nine times a single digit number always ends up in two numbers that add to nine and the first number is risen each number higher multiplied and the second number is lowered each number higher multiplied. For example

1x9 is 09
2x9 is 18
3x9 is 27
4x9 is 36

the first number of the product increases each time and the second number of the product decreases each time.

it only works for 9 multiplied by numbers 1-10, but here you go:

first you hold out both hands and starting from the left most finger, cound your fingers until you reach the number that you are multiplying by 9. Then you fold down that finger and then number of fingers that are on the left side of that finger is the number that would be in the tens digit. The number of fingers on the right side of your folded down finger is the number that would go in the ones place. :-)

start with the right hand, if it is 9x6...count the six off...and leave the last counted digit down on the left hand... you will have one finger folded on the left hand, and all the others up on the right hand. then look at it as a whole number, not as one hand having five fingers, since the answer is 54 your right hand will have all the fingers up even though you counted them off and the one finger folded on the left hand... and four fingers sticking up. that would be your 54. works with other number as well but I only know the 9's. try it with 9x5...only this time you put the finger down on the right hand and looking at it as a whole number you have the 45 four fingers up on one hand and five fingers on the other. hope I didn't confuse you

Count over on your fingers. If it is 2x9 than count two fingers over and put the last finger you count down. Thus you have one up on the right side and 8 left up on the right side so put a 1 on the left and a 8 on the right thus 18.
