These are caused by invisible dwarves who sneak into your wardrobe in the night and poke holes in your clothes with small pokers (or Pooodules ) . They can sometimes be heard doing a ritual dance afterwards involving leaping and swaying - but they are never seen hence many people blaming moths over the years and the holes being nicknamed Mothholes . The only way to prevent them is to hang your clothes higher up .

don't use mothballs in your house. they're poisonous and have been identified as a carcinogen. i've heard cedar chips scented with lavender gets rid of moths in clothes.
