I have a 2004 Dodge Neon approaching 2 years and 30k miles. The dealer says it's time to flush all the fluids: transmission, brakes, power steering, coolant, air & fuel systems (for about $600). I've never had to do this with the past cars I've had. I just change the oil/filter and rotate the tires. Is this necessary?

not necessary but good maintenance. i am a tech and i love doing flushes because they pay well and are very easy. they usually make it out to be more necessary than it really is. i would consider doing the brakes and maybe transmission fluid. i would never do the power steering and would wait until its 4 years old to flush the coolant. dont do the fuel unless its running rough and if you mean a/c when you say air then dont do that either unless its blowing a little warm. i work on mercedes and i dont recomment flushes on them when they are so new unless the fluids are really dirty/dark.

Yes. Overtime the fluids degrade. Brake fluid absorbs water over time which can cause vapor bubbles at the most inopportune time. In the fuel system, you normally just replace the filter as the fuel is regularly flushed

At 30000 miles you should replace your fuel filter and flush the transmission and check or replace if (nessacary) your air filter some shops will try to sell flushes for everything even if not required because they are good money makers.

quickest and hire high priced are going to be a cold air intake and/or a cat-back equipment. blended you will desire to get approximately 15 to twenty horsepower extra. Headers are ambitious on and would desire to offer you an further 5 to fifteen horsepower. in the adventure that your stable with engines and have a spare motor vehicle you could constantly yank the engine and do a number of right here... -Hone and bore the intake/exhaust going into the top -deploy a clean camshaft (for appropriate or backside end overall performance) -deploy lighter/cut back pistons -clean out all jets and flush efi equipment

No, just change the transmission fluid and filter and the air filter if you haven't done that yet. Unless they want to do it under warrantee. Then, you should as if you don't, it could void you warrantee.

It improves the operation and longevity of your car, but $600 is steep and you can probably get it done at a lubrication place where they change your oil. Second opinions are good.

All that shouldn't be necessary. The owner's manual should tell you which 30,000 mile services are required.
