People THINK they are ready to get married, and then after all is said and done, they realize they weren't. I think sometimes they expect some kind of piece of mind to come from getting married - like if they get married, they'll finally stop feeling the temptation to see other people. Things don't work that way though. What a jerk that guy is, I sympathize with your sister.

First of all, i wanna say that what the guy did was totally irresponsible and absurd. Secondly, some people do it b/c they act on a whim of emotions. SOmetimes, they're also feeling pressured by friends and family during a relationship to make the move. Sometimes society and culture can influence a jump such as this. That's really all I can advise given the information above.

There are many reasons why someone would get married if they weren't ready...but one of the most common ones is the fact that some people NEVER fall in love and marry out of fear of dying all alone.

They thought they wanted something, and when they realized what marriage meant maybe they freaked out or didn't want the responsibility anymore. I feel for your sister, but it's better this guy did this now rather than 10 years down the road.

First guess would be he met someone else, didn't want to admit that so he made up a lie about not being ready and then flew the coop with no forwarding address.

he wasn't sure of his feelings, either cheated, stopped loving her, got what he wanted and was done, needed a break, is a criminal lol, or had some problem dealing with a death of anyone close to him then, feels guilty over something, has a child with some stripper that he just found out about...i don't know. that's all i could think of at the moment lol

I got married for the wrong reason and regret it ever since. He was abusive and did drugs. I will never marry for that reason again. I am with a man who doesn't do drugs or is not abusive and treats me with the greatest respect.

I don't think anyone who hasn't be married before is REALLY ready for marriage. Maybe it was a lot harder that he was prepared for. Marriage is a commitment. I don't think people realize that so much anymore.

sounds like maybe he needs to figure out what he wants in life. Or he's not being honest. Or the idea was a novelty
