I am looking for a book that tells about a jeweler who makes jeweled scarab beetles and hides them all over. The people who find them get to keep them. They are worth anywhere from $250,000 to $750,000. In the book he gives you clues as to where they can be found. Has anyone ever heard about this? He makes and hides 10 each year and has the book of clues come out after he has hidden the scarabs. Please help.

"A Treasure's Trove" by Michael Stadther (2004), as others have said:
http://www.atreasurestrove.com/Public/TheTreasureHunt/index.cfm (but I don't see scarabs...)

I'm wondering if he took his inspiration from Kit Williams's "Masquerade", which came out in 1979 and contained picture clues to a beautiful, jewelled golden hare made by the author. I still have that book, but didn't solve all the clues...!

Edit: Oh, he did! I've just found it! -

Ir's called "A Treasure's Trove" and is a children's book written by a very rich man. So far I have never seen any updates on whether any of the pieces were found or not.

Yes, I've read about it in the paper before.

"Secrets of the Alchemist Dar" by Michael Stadther.

Enjoy, and good luck. Share some gems with me if you find them! :)

Visit www.amazon.com and search for it.
