How do you write women so well?
This is from Jack Nicholson in As Good as it Gets.
Every guy I talk to says their S.O. or wife "keeps score" incorrectly and unfairly.

Real Examples:

-"You didn't notice my new perfume last week, so you have to clean the entire garage Saturday"

-"Why are men so concerned with how much money they're going to make after college?"

-"You need to pay 2/3 of the bills but you also have to do 1/2 the cleaning, childcare, and most of the home maintenance...because I can't stand you thinking of me as a housewife."

Is there a biological reason for this? Is there a more nebulous reason, like having to be the one that gets pregnant/has menses? Is this women getting back at (nice) men for past oppression (by jerks)?
Are there some nebulous ways that women are "better" than men which might justify this?

What's the outlook for this problem?

Not ALL women are this irrational. But, I agree, most of them are.

I think it is mostly a chemical/hormonal thing. The more estrogen a woman has, the more irrational (i.e. bases decisions more on feelings than on logic) she tends to be. This is only my guess, but it's based on my own personal experience.

I have more testosterone than the average woman. I had some tests run when I was younger because of a related problem, which is how I know. It has it's down-sides (I have to shave my legs every freakin' day), but I also have a higher sex drive, and my spouse and I are able to completely understand each other. I don't expect him to read my mind - when I'm unhappy, I tell him so, and give him reasons. We have discussions, not arguments - we haven't fought in the 4 years we've been together. Further proof comes from the fact that I lose my rationality for 3-5 days every month when my estrogen level soars, and I act like the women you cited above. I know that it's happening too, but I can't really control it. I put my hubby on alert when I feel it starting, so he knows to tread lightly for those days and not take anything I say personally.

Now, I'm sure a lot of guys might be thinking "Aha! That's how we fix it!", but there's another side to this that needs to be considered. I think estrogen may be also be the source of a woman's desire to mother and nurture a child. That trait is woefully missing in me - I have no desire to have children. I think women have this hormone to ensure that children make it to adulthood, since kids are so defenseless for such a long period of time (unlike most species) - they need someone who will constantly care for them.

To sum up, I think we just evolved this way - children need both a logical parent and an emotional parent to help them grow into a self-sufficient adult. Therefore, if you want to have kids, it's something you're just gonna have to deal with.

Oh and Mr wise and witty... you do not choose a fullstop on the right of a sentence once you've a question mark.

I never had these problems. I think that both partners should contribute according to how much they earn. 50:50, 75:25, 100:0, whatever they are makng at the time. The partner who is not working or not as much should do the chores or most of them.

I think it starts with an unhealthy relationship. Even a good man doesnt know what it takes to keep one alive. And women dont want to teach them how, they want them to figure it out on their own... by putting pressure on them in the hopes that they will realize what they want without the woman having to explain it.

its not fair, and its not fool proof, but like i said, it starts with a poor relationship.

Beyond that, you can have bad women just as much as bad men. Some women just get over zelous and a little overwhelmed with the whole womens-lib deal and totally dont know how to be shemans without turning into total bitches. We did so much good with equality, but we shot ourselves in the faces when we pushed for womans lib.

Women these days cant just be women. They cant even been as good as men, no, they have to be BETTER than men. better at work, better at living, better at reasoning, better at cleaning, cooking, looking, aging, teaching, thinking, talking, EVERYTHING. A man who doesnt know how to combat that simply feeds the fire, and ends up stuck with a nice woman who turned into evil-man-crushing-monster-lady.

Wars dont kill men, their women do. If a man knew how to care for and booster a womans confidance and emotions he would be rewarded with a loving understanding sane woman.

I know its true because there are happily married couples in my family who were literally married until death, when they were 90 something. It requires thought and skills.

I think what your asking is why women treat you unfairly? This is probably just your preception of a situation. There are some things men do better than womrn and some things women do better then men. Your problem with women could be possibly be that you don't respect them or that you don't give them enough attention.
