We live in a quasi rural area and the news reports an especially heavy tick season. There is a new infant in the home and I don't want him exposed to this problem. I have two dogs and I noticed one in the kitchen after they came in from outside. We give the dogs a monthly pill for fleas and ticks. What else can I do?

spray a bug spray all around the perimeter of your house. when you go outside, wear your socks pulled up over the bottom edges of your pants, and wear long sleeved shirts tucked into your pants. then spray a bug spray on your clothes, especially on anything thats going to brush up against trees or anything. you`ll look like a geek, and you may swelter to death from all the long clothes, but you won`t get any ticks on you. If you do find a tick though,get it off and pop the little sucker in half with a fingernail.my neighbor swears by this route.guaranteed it won`t come back.

I recommend a strict diet of beans and cabbage. What with the vast amounts of methane that you'll produce, a thick layer of methane will cover the floor of your house, as well as the majority of your yard. Heck, in your case, you may be able to produce enough for your whole town. Anyways, the methane will kill the ticks through oxygen deprivation.
One word of caution, stay away from open flames. The resulting explosion could potentially launch you into a low earth orbit.

I read that if you have a tick attached to your skin and need to get rid of it to get a cotton ball with a glob of liquid soap and hold it on their for 30 seconds or so that the tick will cling to the cotton ball. This is a good thing to know even though it does not really answer your question.

If they have vets there, they have a product for dogs and cats that will keep them off, but you have to buy it for the whole tick season, not a one time application, like one time a month.

for real .....old cigarette buts kept in a can full of water will kill them 4 sure,,,i bet my own butt that it will work.just use the water after a day or better 2 and use the water in a spray bottle and spray it were they are.
