Implantation bleeding typically comes a few days before your period is due, and is shorter, ligher, and/or different in color than a period. But occasionally, a woman does have what appears to be a normal period. A pregnancy test is the way to determine the difference in this case.

to the first answere. You can bleed during pregnancy, it's not common but some women bleed a little through entire pregnancy. implantation bleeding is spotting a little, not like a regular period that is a lot of blood that you need a pad, but just spotting. and it can be bright red or even a little brownish. I know gross right but thats what i read. and it can last about 1-2 days.

This has happened to me & it scared the hell out of me. The implantation bleeding (more like light spotting) was about a week before my period was due. Then, I continued to bleed (again, more light spotting) when my period was due. I even took Advil for cramps & wore a tampon! But, I was pregnant!!! My ob said this is normal as long as the bleeding isn't heavy or bright red.

Implantation Bleeding:
Implantation bleeding can be one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms. About 6-12 days after conception, the embryo implants itself into the uterine wall. Some women will experience spotting as well as some cramping.

It's lighter and doesn't last that long.... I had a period the first month of pregnancy with both my kids, plus a miscarriage.
Best thing is to go to a Dr and test for pregnancy, just to make sure.... and to make sure you're not in the middle of a miscarriage.

if you had implation bleeding it would be really light and may be slightly browny in colour, also it doesn't last as long as what your normal period would most people with implation bleeding only experience the bleeding for a couple of days

The bleeding would be very light almsot like little spots were you would only need a panty liner and the coloration would be darker then normal.
