Well, I suppose you're thinking of someone who has at least one of these characteristics:
1. Can't be reasoned with.
2. Believe they're always right.
3. Convinced that it's always someone else's fault.
There's no formula for dealing with these type of people, but it helps to just accept the fact that some people are just like that, but the most important things to keep in mind are to PROTECT YOUR SELF-ESTEEM and KEEP YOUR COOL. Also, don't force yourself to beat this person, because he/she may just always find a way to refute whatever you say.
Although the WikiHow source I am listing is for dealing with impossible people, I am sure that there are key points that you can use in your situation. Read it well, and I hope you can work things out. :)

Be aware that you are not alone on this matter. I have seen people not listen to my or other sound advice only to watch them fall with a mouth full of size 10 nikes. And then to top it off, they act like nothing happened and continue to treat you the same. I do not know who this person is to you, but if you can just avoid such people that think lowly of you.

It all depends on if the person is male or female. There are males who just don't think a female knows anything about a certain subject, no matter what you try to do. Some just happen to think they're superior or something. I've ran into that before. You just have to ignore it and do what it is you believe to be right anyway and the outcome is usually a good one.

Argh!! I know that person... After I offered my suggestion, I smile and ask for their advice. It's like turning the tables and making him my mentor. Then I question his answer (in a nice way of course) if it differs from mine. Okay - I'm really bad at that and you might not want to do that because this guy caves in after my interrogation with a smile in trying to find the best solution to the situation at hand. ^_^

I'm a smart azz when it comes to this problem. I like to start asking them questions like "do you have a bottle opener ?" and the bottle has a twist off cap.
Or Ask them questions that everyone knows the answer to and just lissen to their answers like it really matters.
Another thing I like to do is get some freinds togeather and agree on a rediculous answer to a question and then ask the question to the person that is all so smartzzo and when he/she starts to answer, everyone start butting in and saying "no thats not right its WHAT ever! and so on"

I have had to deal with many people like this in my life. There is not much you can do. What I have done in the past is offer what I know, when they turn up their nose at it, I just leave it alone. I'm not going to argue with them.

I feel the same way. You feel as if they think your stupid or something. I just think to myself " whatever " because their the ones that don`t know anything. I would continue to offer suggestions despite what they think because in the long run your the one with all the answers.

DONT YOU KNOW ANYTHING LOL LOL Just joking.
All you can do is let them till they stick the foot in there mouth enough times. People like that seem to loose friends fast when they hit a certain age. Lots seem to be popular and likable people people till you are with them too much. If your married to him honey sorry to say, he is what he is, you can point it out to him but your always there to listen to him and he likes that. I had a wife like that till she divorced me, Thank the Lord now some other guy has to put up with her

actually, I just generally avoid such a person. They are foolish to not listen to people.
If I can't avoid them (say, I work with them), I don't suggest anything to them. I sit quietly until one day, there is something I can say and back up with clear references, a lot of experience, and preferably with the backing of other people. Then WHAM! I get to flatten the know-it-all.

This is the way of life unfortunately. The best option seems to be to not let it get you down. Some people simply do not want to hear others opinions.
