Is the country singer from the 70's from Ft. Pierce, Fl. Gary Stewart, still alive?

Gary became popular in the late 70's. He was from our home town, Ft. Pierce, Fl. We heard he had died. "Drinking Thing, She's Acting Single, and Out of Hand, are just three of his wonderful songs.

Nope he's not alive. He died sometime around 2003. He had got shot by a self-inflicted bullet.
