If your home is infested with termites, are you able to hear chewing sounds? I swear I have heard an odd chewing noise several times when I am trying to put my son down for a nap, and it sounds like it is coming from a wall. Any ideas?

Ive never had a termite infestation that bad, thankfully... but I do know there are several insects that you CAN hear... the pine bark beetle for instance. Also, you may hear mice in the walls, they are notorious for chewing, scratching and running thru the walls and ceilings.
Like the others here, I suggest you have your home inspected professionally for termites...that's not something you want to let go without acting to eradicate them.

You can't hear termites though you might have another type of bug problem. If you have termites you will find little bodies of them around your house. Though it would not hurt to check for termites.

usually you cant hear it, but if the heart of the nest is in that part of the wall, the chewing of all the termites may cause you to hear the chewing. Call terminix!!!

I've had these white wood worms in my fire wood pile & split the wood open & found these juicy white maget like worm. I could hear them chewing & chewing for weeks, till I found them, sounds like ruler vibrating on desk sound I use to make in school, but tinyer twanggg twanggg

what you are hearing is rats/mice,termites chewing would not be heard.Rats/mice make lots of chewing noises.

yes you really can hear bugs chewing on your wood. my buddy has a log camp and it has ants red and black. on a quite night you would think there were thousand's of them ,all eating at the same time.

Yes!! we had them bad a few years ago, i thought it was mice. they chewed a big hole thru the bedroom wall, we went to the basement and saw the path they were chewing, awfull nasty things they are!

I have never heard them chewing however you will see ants with wings everywhere if you have them
