why do you care at all about celebrities?

they don't care about you. they think they're better than everyone else. i don't think they're any better, but since some people idolize these idiots, they think they're a gift to society, but they're just retards.

it seems like the only people who care about them are the weak minded, who don't have enough sense to realize THEY WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING TO HELP YOU! sounds like assholes to me.

exactly my point. instead of caring for these celebrities, we should be caring about starving kids and orphan kids that is in need, & many other things besides these celebrities needs money. thats jus wut i think..

Wow, tell us how you really feel. No just kidding. everyone has there place in our society. I love movies and t.v. is cool at times, so we need actors and singers,etc.. I don't listen to these people for political advice or direction on where I should donate my charity. I use them for my entertainment,and in turn they get my $8.50 when I go the movies. People always live through others that have more interesting lives. For example, if you're a sports fan , and you follow a team, you often say "WE" lost or won. "WE" didn't do anything, "They" did.....Same with celebs, the average over weight, tired, boring , uninteresting or celeb wanna be wants a part of the Hollywood experience. So, to each it's own:)

#3 I like to read tabloids and such about celebrities because I like to see the stuff they have- there are very few people out there who don't want to be rich

If you were seen or heard constantly on TV or radios, then people would idolize you too. It's bound to happen because people love gossip, and that's all celebrity based things are, gossip.

FOR MOST PEOPLE, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE ACTUAL CELEBRITY THEMSELVES. AFTER A PREDICTABLE DAY OF WORK, SCHOOL, ETC., HEARING ABOUT THE (OFTEN GLAMOURIZED) UPS AND DOWNS OF PUBLIC FIGURES CAN BE AN ENTERTAINING ESCAPE. I DO AGREE WITH U, THOUGH, THAT SOME PEOPLE TEND TO IDOLIZE CELEBS. THEY DO NEED HELP.

You see people are just basically entertained by celebrities lives and how they look when they SHOULD be worrying about their life and how they look. throughout history, humanity has created celebrities. whether its war heroes or kings.. celebrities are almost always people who have something we dont. at first they are noticed for a unique quality (often times, good looks or athletic ability). then we always pay attention to them because everyone else is paying attention to them, it is a cycle that will never end.

Every society has their "gods". In history they have been artists, poets, writers etc. I guess people try to live vicariously through celebrities to make their life more interesting.

Well, celebrites get everything they want in the world and we dont always. It kinda interesting to see people get what they want, in a snap. Ofcourse, there are werido people that stalk them and stuff, yeah that... thats a no no, but overall that kinda why.

I totally agree with you.But I don't think everyone idolises them. I think it's only the sad few that can't live their lives without mimicing someone else.
