I dont think its gerrard, he has to many games where he is off form, he also picks up a few injuries each season which makes him a doubt to even play some matches, personally i think John Terry is the most influentual player because he is the most consistant player and plays with pride, he is someone you can always look up to and he always puts his body on the line whether he's playing for England or Chelsea

I definatly dont think its Beckham, he used to be a really good player hes still good but not as good as he once was. I think the most influentual player is Gerrard or Rooney, Gerrard has shown he is a good player for example if anyone saw the fa cup final or last years champions league. All because of him they managed to win. Rooney is also very good,As people have seen if you watched euro 04 or if you see him play for man u.

Becham has been recently, without doubt . He may well be in this world cup his free kicks crosses work rate tackling positioning are all world class.
But Gerrard Lampard Rooney even Crouch Owen or Cole could emerge we are a team full of players with the potential who can miss the influence of Terry Ferdinand and Robinson in the defence. their stability allows the rest of the team to express themselves.
But "Bobby luck" the refs, the weather, diet, wives oh yes and the other teams!!!! will all have an influence.
i Just hope at least one of them get it all together each game!! We will all have to wait and see!!!!

This is a tough one! Soccer is a team effort so there is never only one, but many influentual players. My personal favourites are Beckham, Owen and Cole.

I agree definitely Steven Gerrard he's a great role model for all those little youngsters- he sets a good example, but overall i enjoy watching him play football he talented! (and gorgeous too lol!!)
Then it has to be Frank Lampard he wicked too! (also cute too!)
Third place Micheal Owen he's great i remember those glory days when he was 17/18 he was fabulous he was way better than Rooney if they were the same age...
Overall the English team are in great form, i hope they do good today.
COME ON ENGLAND!!

I think that would be Wayne Rooney. You could see the improvement?? in performance when he came on as sub. As the competition has progressed and Rooney gets fitter, the team have improved. However; they've a lot to do if they're gonna win it. I'm hoping it won't be Scolari 3 Erikkson 0.

First up,Beckham WAS influential in the past. Now,he rarely exerts his influence on the national team.If we're looking for future England captains,my vote goes to John Terry. He's a rock solid defender who gives calm to his backline. He would make a much better captain. But for now,I say we stick with beckham.
