Hello, I know you all don't know me from a fly on the wall but wanted some imput.

I recently got called to come into an interview for a finance company. I would be handling their IT support. They have no IT support department at this location and that is why they are hiring for the position.

Long story short I did the first interview 2 weeks ago. Went really really well, felt toally comfortable. Got a call back last week asking me to go in for a second interview. The second interview was with the president of the company and it seemed a lot less comfortable then the first.. I was just probably intimitated.. Regardless I felt it went well, I was able to explain my experience, and how it would apply. Now here is where it got wierd.. The lady who did the interview sent me to another women to discuss benefits, I said ok all looks fine.. Then they sent me to a third interview with an employee to ask about the company.. that went well also.. Now they said they would be getting back to me..

So the lady says ok we will have someone call from the IT department to answer any questions you have.. We discussed pay and such, benefits like I said.. But no job offer.. Now I am wondering what my chances are of getting this job.. If they discussed pay and have me go through all these interviews im guessing they are somewhat interested.. Just perplexed at the lack of an actual offer.. The lady I talked to in the end was the friendly woman I first interviewed with 2 weeks ago.. She said there are a few other people scheduled for second interviews.. Now is this normal? What are my chances of landing this job... If you have HR experience your opinion would be greatly appreciated.. All other opinions are welcomed as well. Thanks

You need to call them back and ask if you don't hear from them. Show your interest in the job. It sounds like they are considering you otherwise no one would waste that much time interviewing you. Call them back and thank them for the opportunity and get into if you got the job.

I think you will greatly boost your chances of getting the job by sending a hand-written thank you note to the person who co-ordinated your interviews, ASAP! If they didn't think you'd be a good candidate they wouldn't have wasted time on the tour, talking about benefits, etc. But there is no way of knowing if the person who interviewed after you was just as qualified and personable. The thank you note can make a world of difference!

in my experience this happens quite a bit when you aren't accepted for the job. Whenever you hear" we'll get back to you" or "we're still looking at other candidates", you didn't get the job. they only say that bcuz the HR people there are two big a coward to say it to your face and that's their lingo for turning you down. it may well be they are finalizing something for you, you know. but whenever those words come out or you call them and they say they'll get back to you, they probably won't.

Another thing, since they have no person before for this position, they may just be taking their sweet old time in deciding the right person for the job. call them and if they say we'll get back to you then look elsewhere and don;t waste your time with them.
