It does, if the party is implicit about it. If they are fully aware that one of their star politicians is corrupt, but let him get away with it anyway. Then the party is corrupt for helping him. But if the party really didn't know that their politician was corrupt, then it does not make the party corrupt.

No it doesn't, unless the party defends what is clearly corrupt activity. You could argue that both major parties are corrupt - Republicans through the actions of Rep. Cunningham and association with lobbyist Jack Abramoff (though some Democrats dealt with him too), Democrats through Bill Clinton taking money from a South Korean businessman, and also for giving satellite technology to China in exchange for campaign contributions.

Neither party has only one corrupt politician, the question becomes, how many does it take to give the public the perception that the party itself is corrupt?

Sure, and the democrats are completely blameless. Of course one corrupt politician doesn't make the whole party corrupt.

One man does not corrupt a party, but the party can corrupt the man. Politics is about power, ALL PARTIES are at risk of being corrupted.
