Only the index finger can be pointed straight out from the palm by itself... At least with my fingers anyway.

The amount of surface area of the brain-cerebral cortex allocated to the index finger is GREAT in humans. Go look up the Homonculus (little man) and see the diagram of the brain with the relative amounts of surface area of the pre central and post central gyri utilized for that finger. AMAZING. Esp the idea of fine motor for needlepoint and or for reading braille.

Hm. All my fingers are able to point strait out from the palm. weird.

The pointer does seem to have an advantage over the others though...that's a very good question.

i for one can move all fingers equally. but that may be because of the piano lessons forced upon me throughout my childhood.
