"And on the Seventh, day God rested from his labors..."

That being said look around you...Take the lowly ant; there is the queen, her "job" is to lay eggs. There are "worker" ants, that do everything from taking care of the young, to cleaning the nest(somebody has to clean the toilets). Then there are soldier ants, who's "job" is to defend the colony...

What humans invented was the idea of PAYING somebody to do a "job". I don't have to grow, or hunt, my own food; I pay the farmer to grow it for me(in times past the farmer and I might have tradded services). As mankind evolved, his needs became more, and more, specialized; it made much more sense to "pay" for a service...

God invented work when he invented Adam. All animals have jobs, and even trees have jobs. There are worker Bees, ants that protect the queen and ants that gather food, female lions hunt and the males protect the pride, some gorillas groom while others protect the group while some hunt, Trees manufacture oxygen and take in carbon monoxide, The soil has it's purpose, water, it's purpose. Adam was a farmer. Eve was his "helpmeet" or helpmate. God made our universe before he made man. God rested on the seventh day. Everything from time to time takes a rest. Everything works, too.

Nope. Every living thing on this planet works. The rule is, no work, no food. Some animals hunt other animals, or find tasty plants and leaves they can eat, mosquitoes and other nasty bugs punch holes in humans to get blood, etc.etc.etc. Humans happen to be the only organisms on the planet who get paid for their work in other than a direct benefit. Our benefits are indirect. We work, we get paid, we buy food, shelter and other necessities.

I would say the ancient Sumerians invented the idea of performing tasks in exchange for money-they were the first
people to create a civilization so it would be a natural development.

Work is a necessity. You know, hunting and gathering, growing crops, making your own clothes from aninmal skins, etc. We simply evolved and created a world of machines and use currency to buy food and clothing and other necessitites. Work has always been there. Our lifestyles merely changed.
In that regard, animals work too. They hunt, create shelters, care for their young, etc. Insects work in colonies: bees and ants are examples. Simply living and providing for yourself, animal or human is work.

God invented everything. If sin had not entered the world and people did not disobey god we wouldn't have to work. But satan changed it for everybody.
