Area 51 was a multi-level laboratory used by our government for genetic research engineering and cloning. Not only were native earth animals used in the experiments but also alien life forms were used in the mutation of genetic cells to produce new and more intelligent life forms. The laboratories were underground and access was by elevator. There were many gruesome and failed experiments locked up below. The project was an exchange of information by our government with Aliens know as Grays who come from Zeta Raticula star system.
Such experiments were performed in Atlantis where the same alien contact was made and information provided. In exchange for scientific medical knowledge, vagrant and homeless people were taken by the aliens for their own retrieval of information and returned. The aliens did not live up to their agreement and were abducting other people with know IDs. The project was closed shortly there after. Entrance to the levels below were only obtained by a pass card key, as well as guarded by military type personal.

Area 51 houses "primarily" aircraft under development. They are housed there because of it's remote location and the fact that the type of testing that is done on these aircraft is located at the various test ranges which are located throughout Nevada and operated out of Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas.
