If possible, please give specific details as to why the Ipod or Gigabeat is a better buy

Both the Ipod and Gigabeat have video capabilities and were both editors choice products on Cnet.com So I'd like to know the opinion of others to see which is the better buy.

Definitely the Apple ipod 30gb. The ipod has the click wheel which Toshiba doesn't have. Apple also has more experience making ipod unlike Toshiba making the "Gigabeat". The Gigabeat might be good, but since it is new, it may have problems with software, interface, etc. Plus, Toshiba is just copying apple, but it won't work. The good thing about Toshiba is that they know how to make hard drive because they have made the for the Apple mini. If you really want the gigabeat, then just wait a couple of months or so, so that they can fix any issue with it. Ooh, and about the review, they gave it a good review because it's the only thing closes to the Ipod. I strongly recomend you the ipod with warranty (if anything dose happen to it). Good luck choosing th best mp3 player. Ipods rule!!!!! lol

I have the Toshiba Gigabeat and although it isn't as user friendly as the Ipod, it certainly is a prize to have. Once I learned how to upload, download, delete and format, I was in listener heaven. I would buy again if I damage or lose it. It is wonderful for reading a good book also. Great for exercise time. Your local library has many books of all genre to listen to. My choice: Toshiba...

I have an Ipod 30G Video and it's really great have had few issues but their customer service is not great. I download a bunch of pod-casts and music and have a really good luck with mine.

Apple wants you to pay for a service contract which is an extra $60 you only get one service call without the agreement and then your on your own.

Good luck and I hope this has helped.

I agree, the Creative Zen is better than either of these two. The Zune is going to suck for the next year or two until a 2nd generation comes out and hackers have created a 3rd party O.S. that will remove the song sharing restrictions. :P

The iPod. All these brands are making ripoffs of the iPod. They may look similar, but none of them hold out even half as long as the iPod.

If you have an Apple desktop or laptop, definitely get the ipod. It is plug & play -- fast simple & fun to use.

I wouldn't get an ipod if you're on a PC -- you'll run difficulties & will need to make additional purchases to get them to jive together.

Buy the iPod. iPods tend to have a better interface design than regular MP3 players as well as better sound quality.
