The $1 billion that was "stolen" was allocated to citizens from New Orleans who misused the funds for example a 7day vacation in the Caribbean, a sex change and so on. The theft was done done by a government official but dishonest people-some pretending to be Katrina victims and falsely receiving aid -so why are you blaming the government---no government, agency etc can prepare effectively for natural disasters-usually there's only a few days not weeks to prepare and to the credit of the monies given-all who needed aid and help were given it. Instead of mouthing blame etc see what you can do in your community now in case disaster hits, vote for officials that are honest etc. be positive

The keyword to your question is "stolen". I doubt you have had any expierence dealing with a sum of money as large as 15Billion but try to imagine for a second the man hours and enormous task it took to deligate that sum of money? If a bank gets robbed should I stop using it or believing in them because of it? It is easy to be a pesimist and point fingers. It is truly much harder to be an activist and make things happen. Don't like our governement move somewhere fun like Mexico, canada, Brazil, Germany, The Congo, Tabgo, China, Russia, Italy or any of the other 145 countries in this world. Maybe then you could start to understand what you have here and maybe then you will start to contribute to it, not continue to take from it.

As long as the liberals have their way, our tax dollars will be wasted on programs run by the federal bureaucracy. When will we ever learn that for every dollar we send to Washington, we get back twenty-five cents? Any of these massive handouts could be run better by the state or local government at less than half the cost and with much less fraud and corruption. It's not just a matter of trust. It's also that the federal government is simply not capable of overseeing programs better handled at a lower level of government.

I hope you agree!!!

I didn't trust the fools BEFORE Katrina. Why should I feel any different now?
Govt officials want only one thing, power and influence. They dont care about us, our problems or solutions. Most of them are incompetent, and those who have any skills leave or get frustrated.

The government was trying to help the victims. It's the people who lied and "stole" money for Hawaiian trips and movies. I guess you can't trust anyone anymore.
