Because Batista's out (but back v. soon) and Undertaker probably won't return 'till next year or something. Also the belt doesn't have as many contenders for it as Raw. Yer thoughts?

I think pro wrestling is a sorry excuse for TV and one of the stupidest things man has ever created. Not real, not fun, just macho bullshit.

So, to me and many they've been dead for years.

It appears that they have thinned out Smackdown to a point where they will end up doing one of three things... especially given the launch of ECW, which has diluted the talent even further.
I think Smackdown will either be a) a training ground for younger talent/new talent/ cruiserweight types, etc, with a few bigger name superstars like Batista, etc. rotating between it and Raw to anchor it and keep the ratings up, with the idea of generating some new "money" characters from the new guys, or b) Smackdown will see the return of a couple of people who have been gone for a while to pick up the slack, like Chris Jericho, the Rock, Brock Lesnar, or possibly even Austin (in a limited, mostly talking role), or c) they could be gradually phasing out Smackdown in order to replace it or absorb it into Raw again.

I'm thinking option A or a combo of A and B. Smackdown's pretty much been the playground of the high flyers anyway, and who knows, maybe some real stars will come out of it like in the past. Remember, Cena started there, among many others.

Just my 2 cents' worth.

Ever since the introduction of the brand extension it was clear that smackdown! was going to be a second rate show. Smackdown! just does not have the history that raw (is war) has had.

Don't forget that smackdown! was initially brought in as a complementary show to raw (is war) as a breeding ground for the new stars, which is why Raw is broadcast live and Smackdon recirded on Tuesdays and aired later in the week. Look at the title belts and you will realise that none of the belts on Smackdown! are WWF belts. The World Heavyweight Championship is an imitation of the NWA and WCW big gold belts, the US and Crusierweight titles are WCW belts and the WWE tag Team titles were also created to complement the WWF Tag Team Titles that were alocated to Raw.

Smackdown does actualy have some extremely talented technical wrestlers on its roster but has failed to write sroylines that use their talent. Wrestlers like William Regal, Dave Finlay and Scotty 2 Hotty who have given years of loyal service to the industry are pushed aside for freak acts like mark henry and khali.

The brand extension has not only degraded smackdown! further but has also killed the tag team divisions leading the wwe to reuse old storylines without finishing off old ones. The reformation of DX is just rediculous as it was only 3 months ago at saturday nights main event that hhh was kicking the crap out of hbk.

Please WWE writers end the brand extension before you alienate me and other wrestling fans even further.

I heard a rumor that the Undertaker will be returning in a month or two. Not for sure. Raw does have better storylines than smackdown.

they have the talent. Beniot, Finlay and Regal are among the best technical wrestlers of all time and they also have great new talent (Burchill springs to mind as a great talent of the future)

The problem i fear lie with the creative team. Over the last year we have seen really crappy gimmicks (the boogeyman etc,) rehashes of old storylines (palmer cannon was a complete rip off of the same story ECW did nearly 10 years before) and downright insulting ideas (the junior division was awful)

I think miniscruff needs to grow up and stop posting spam/flame messages for free yahoo points. but I digress. Smackdown will survive, even if it means doing a merger with raw and having the WWE champion appear on both shows again like they did when they first started the competing brands.

HELLZ. YA!!! Well I actually think that Smackdown is pretty boring because all their good and entertaining people are leaving to RAW, or they have an injury. And plus their ratings have been VERY LOW compared to RAW's ratings. So i think they should just combine into one show.

they are not done yet, sure the storyline isnt as good but wat do u expect raw takes all the good people(cena came from smackdown and so did RVD) if they can get better wrestlers maybe they can come back but for now they are kind of done cuz on smackdown there are mostly cruserwieghts so there arent many contenders for Rey Misterio but im sure they'll be back

Raw is turning to be the better show, smackdown seems to lose my interestfor each week

i think it would be smart to spice up smackdown, send some raw superstars to it or even combine the two brands. the only problem is that i don't think they would blend well and it would still be considered sd! vs. raw
