An ideal solution can best be described in an example... a woman is pregnant and is about to give birth, she gets to the hospital and everything goes well. Many things could have gone wrong but they didn't so that was the ideal situation.

The ideal situation is when everything happens as you expect it to. It's not easy to achieve. There's always something that screws up your ideal situation. That's why they're saying it's useless to argue about something unpredictable. An ideal situation would be if they said you were absolutely right in every detail.

an ideal situation is a situation in which not a lot of other factors are involved.

there situations might either contain additional factors that may effect the outcome of that situation.

this is the gray area sometimes the answer simply is not yes it is yes but if _____ than you should _____ then _____.

or you could be completely like right but, they are so deep in the situation that they are oblivious. IE. I know he is married but this is different, you just don't understand. in this situation they are so wrapped up in the content that they don't understand.

hope this helps

Well, it basically means the answer is sort of subjective. And that if the situation were just perfect, then your theory/idea would be correct, but that there are some times when there is no right or wrong answer.

They mean that if there weren't any underlying or intervening factors to change a scenario that you're talking about, that you would be right. But with scenarios there is never a sure thing anyway...so it's just their opinion.
