The World Cup is played 4 yearly, half way between Olympic years. There is enough international football with those tournaments and all the other games, including the European Cup.

It usually take a country 4-5 yrs to prepare for a world cup. If we look to 1986 we see that Columbia was not able to host even though they were given5 yrs. warning. W/O preparation... The world cup could not be held. While it is nice to see the greatest teams play often. We must realize the difficulty of preparation. For a while, they didn't think Germany would be ready in 2006.

i imagine each 4 years is genius. I have many motives for wondering this. the first is that if the international cup replaced into held each three hundred and sixty 5 days or each 2 years it would provide up being some thing particular. the 2d reason is that if it replaced into held each three hundred and sixty 5 days the quaility of football would drop around the realm. that is because gamers would do not have any relax after the season and thechronic to develop into an internatioal would dry up. and finally the money, it would fee a lot to carry a international cup each three hundred and sixty 5 days.

Well maybe they don't have more space for a 2 year world cup, however, the top teams (clubs) have been asking for it tobe held every 2 years... possibly beginning on 2012
