My first real exposure to opera was in a music appreciation class in college. It was there that I learned the story meaning of the opera. Before that, I could not understand the language, because most operas are in another language.
I had a lot of piano music that had opera music in it. I even got a little opera when I played in the symphony at age 12.
The music I heard in cartoons was classical music to my ears.

I am going to have to say yes, and Barber of Seville was exactly what I was thinking of! I'm also thinking of the episode where Bugs removes his glove and the glove does the conducting for him.

Wasn't everybody's first experience of opera with Bugs Bunny? Did anyone out there have parents who took them to the opera as children???

to tell the truth, my great aunt bev took me to the opera house all the time until she died when i was three. my favorite opera is Richard Wagner's Die Walkure (the valkerie). very complex stuff, but the barber of seville is still top place with me.
