Cumin Tea. This is used by midwives in Latino cultures. Traditionally, a raw cube of potato is added to the tea, it absorbs the bitterness of the cumin. You can add sugar to this one or honey.
1 T. cumin seed to one cup of boiling water, allow to steep for 5 minutes, then drink. No more than 1 cup an hour per day

First of all, don't try caster oil! It will only give you strong abdominal contractions with diarrhea and maybe vomiting, and who wants that?
Raspberry leaf tea it worth a try too. It can be found in the grocery store by the other teas. Sometimes it's hard to find, so ask someone if you can't find it.
Sex works sometimes. There are prostoglandins in sperm that will help soften the cervix, and if you are ready for labor, they will help get dialation and effacement underway. It won't help your water to break as one person says, just helps the cervix. Also orgasm can help stimulate uterine contractions and get labor going.
Shrimp is a myth. It won't start labor, but it sure tastes good, so why not indulge?
Walking at least a mile a day will help. It will move the baby down and into position. It can also speed up contractions if you are having any.
Acupressure works too. There are two places that work the best: in the webbing between your thumb and first finger- you'll know you hit the spot because it will be sore and tender- press and hold for 15-20 seconds and then release. Continue this for 20-30 minutes. There is also one about 2 finger widths up from your ankle. There is an indentation on both sides of the ankle with a tendon running between. Pinch the skin on either side of tendon, in the indentation and hold and release just like the hand. This spot will probably be sore too.
Take a long warm bath and relax. Think about going into labor. The mind is a very powerful tool that will help.
You can try and take evening prime rose oil caplets. One to two capsules a day.
Other then that, spicy food sometimes work. It's worth a try, but keep the tums handy!!
Good luck and hope this helps!!

I drank 2 tablespoons of Castor oil in about a cup of orange juice. Then I'd waite a few hours and contractions would start. I did it three seperate times and each time I would dialate at least 1 cm more. The third time I had our son.

Take mineral oil. It gives you contractions of the bowels and triggers labor contractions. However, expect some diarrhea. It worked for me with my second child.

sex can help you go into labor. the man's sperm has a protein covering that can help to break your membranes. walking can also help as the baby descends into the cervix. your body will know exactly what and when to do what it needs to do, so there's no need in pushing it. whatever you do, be careful.
