Two reasons.
1, everyone thinks they're hotter than they are.
2, there's no reason (because of #1) for Yahoo to put in an option for ugly avatars. I mean seriously, who would want to have an avatar of them with greasy hair, pimples, and a beer gut?

who the heck wants an ugly avatar?no one wants to look ugly. still....everyone should know that appearances aren't what they seem, especially on the internet. i am pretty sure that if i made an avatar as ugly as possible, it would come looking still cute or semi-cute at least.

Hilarious, but the avatar is made to generalize so that way if your 700 lb you won't feel so bad that you have to actually fess up to what you might actually look like. Plus if indeed you have some sort of malfunction this is a way to get people to know your mood and see what style you might like instead of whats on the outside only, but hey I look like my avatar!!!

because you normally wont meet thesew people and who would want an ugly avatar? also, the avatar maker thing does not have many ugly things in it, just something for everyone.

Because all of the Yahoo avatars look like 12 year olds. They should have some granny ones on there too!

It's called anonymity. Everyone's self-conscious to one degree or another. And it could also be related to limitations in the Avatar s/w itself. Besides, it would only matter to shallow, insensitive people obsessed with appearances.

Alright this is an easy one. Look, no one wants to look ugly unless there is something wrong with them. DUH! Being 'hot' is one of the things that Americans focus on, but i think that my avatar looks just like i do.
