People getting married for the wrong reasons. It is easy to love someone when you've known them for a few years, but after 10 years, children, bills, and all of life's other responsibilities it is much harder. Love is a choice, not a feeling. Comittment is a promise, not an emotional endeavour. Marriage is a partnership between two friends, not a license.
Remember this and you probably won't be part of the divorce statistic in America.

The divorce rates are so high in the USA, because people have forgotten how to LOVE each other how they did in the OLDn' days. Back in the day, if you can remember, people stayed together no matter what! That was because everyone didn't want to have conflict in paying money; getting a lawyer; telling their friends and family about it; etc. Basically thte rate of divorce is so high, because everyone thinks marriage will be easy, and they divorce over little problems. You can't have a healthy relationship without communication, and no one has the skills of Communication with their Spouse in the United States of America.

it's high because altho people get married a whole lot, it's like their inlove with the idea of marriage & the excitiment MORE than the actual thing. People forget what "forever" truely means. I am seeing a trend with celebs, they are getting engaged and then breakin it like thats no big deal. I think people tend to be like hollywood, it's not real! I also think many people go into a relationship for the wrong thing & reason(s). I Definitley think love should be FAR more important than attractiviness and sex. Mariage is not about right now, it's about always and everyday. For me theres only one reason for divorce, cheeting! And people cheet a lot in USA. So i think cheeting is the #1 reason for divorce. This country is very much indulged on sex. Sex is a feeling that can never out last love.

The divorce rate is so high because people rush into marriage or when they have a problem they know that they have an easy out. Instead of working through their troubles they just call it quits. It's sad.

The divorce rate is so high because people think marriage is all skittles and puppy dogs. Marriage is the hardest thing you'll ever do! Marriage isn't supposed to be great all the time. It's just supposed to be until death do you part. This is, of course, excluding the women and men who are victims of abuse in their marriage. That's something different entirely.

Marriage isn't as sacred as it was back in the days. It's too easy to marry for money and power. It's even easier to have affairs and then get a divorce. Love is just a word for most people.

I believe it is due to the fact that so many people are in it for the wrong reasons like sex, money, status, and religion. I have had the opportunity to be married 4 times in my 46 years and declined over the fact that the women were after my money or wanted a sex partner like me. I swore to myself at the age of 8 that I would never get married because I JUST DON'T GET IT. I see it as a possessive business relationship that too many people fool themselves into believing that it is all about love. Like I said, I just don't get it.

Because of the heardness of hearts and selfishness and laziness. Love seems to have went out the window for most couples and marriages. I am so glad that my marriage is not in this category and that our love is very much alive and real!

I think one of the problems is I see so many people (especially teens) rushing into marraige early, before they really get to know the person, I think that is where most of the statistic comes from.

People never solve problems before they get married they just cope with them and then when they get married the problems they had when they were dating never got fixed then they got married and the problems escalated, and then divorce. Solve your problems.
