Love, love, love this game! I like the altoids tin idea! Our family, anyone over the age of 9 plays! We just keep the 5-6 player expansion pieces in our regular box. We also have Seafarers and it's fun too! Never a dull game with Settlers! We have Starfarers too but haven't learned to play it yet. Need someone who is seasoned to show us how.

It's my favorite game. I have the original plus Seafarers, Cities & Knights, the 5 & 6 player versions for all, das Buch (with different scenarios) and a friend of mine has the 3D version. FYI, used Altoids tins are great for holding the playing pieces, one per color.

I've played that game for over a year now. In fact, I started playing with a friend, and I made myself my own board out of cardboard, construction paper, and Legos.

Hint: I believe that wheat is the most important resource in the original game (no expansions).
