I turned off my icemaker for 2 years - now it won't make ice or run through the clean cycle

Thank you for your answer. I know I did not make my question very clear.

This is a stand alone icemaker. The main drain works, water flows into the water basin, but it won't pump up to the freezing plate. If I manually turn the impeller in the water pump, water goes up the hose toward the freezing plate. I pushed water through the hose with a turkey baster over the freezing plate so I know the hose isn't clogged.

Thank you for the help.

Thank you everyone for your answers.

I had to take the top pff the water pump in order to turn the impeller and make sure it would spin freely. So your suggestion to visually inspect the pump was correct. It turns out that the motor to the pump was not working. It had power, but would not turn the impeller. I purchased a new water pump complete kit and everything is working fine now.

Thanks again.

This question has gone six days without an answer. If yours is a typical installation, the source of water for the icemaker is a compression fitting on a copper water pipe. This fitting is made to pierce the copper to allow water to flow through the plastic tubing to your refrigerator.

If you have hard water, chances are that mineral deposits have formed at the place where the pipe is pierced. Try piercing agin in the same place to dislodge the deposit and you should see water flow.

Good luck with your problem.

The such a lot typical hindrance with Fridgidaire (992) models is kinked strains whilst new. If it is an older unit you'll ensure the water is not remoted, and ensure the cooling coils for the ice maker/freezer (most sensible coil set) are scorching at the again of the unit. If the coils aern't scorching, or the freezer could also be no longer operating properly, the refigerant chage is both inadequet, or there's a leak within the piping (no longer overly most probably with present production) The first-class approach to manage a equipment problem is touch the oldest character within the vicinity, and ask who they use... since without doubt that is the fellow, despite the fact that possibly no longer licensed in your approach, is aware of essentially the most approximately it. There's anything to be stated for "small the city" loyalty.

It sounds like you have a broken impeller in your pump. Providing your pump is running which you fail to mention. TRY TAKING THE PUMP OFF AND VISUALLY INSPECTING IT.
