South Africa is probably the only African nation that could manage to host the game successfully.

- They have high literacy (86.4%)

- They are follow primarily Christian religions and are tolerant of women's involvement in sport.

- They have a developed infrastructure

- Their GDP is over $533 billion, but they still suffer a 25% unemployment rate and 50% of the nation lives in poverty.

- They have a coastal location so they can host water sports like sailing, but they have few lakes or rivers, and would likely require sunstaintial development so rowing and other water sports would be difficult. I know I wouldn't want to swim their coastal waters (Triathalon,) as they're know for Great White sharks...

Yes probably South Africa, and very soon too. But the rest of Africa has too many problems to be bothered about such an insignificant event, in terms of what the event can do to help the continent improve living standards etc.
The Olympics and other large sporting events are geared to nations that have the ability to waste money on sports arenas and liesure facilities that will never be used after the event.
i.e. what use would an equestrian course, or hockey field be in Africa. Even rowing. A pity as all this is, the economics does not allow these countries the ability to do this.

Since you've opened it up to a century, yes. They'll probably get the summer games and hold it in either South Africa or perhaps even Egypt. I know that security will be a big issue though. So they may have to beef things up like Greece had to when they got the Olympics back in Athens.

Currently South Africa and Kenya are both considering a bid for the 2016 Olympics. South Africa will host the 2010 World Cup, I think their odds for an African nation would be best.

Not to be a itch with a capital B, but I believe some of those answers are very racist. In the next century yes. I know South Africa is trying right now to get the World Cup to be held there in the next two decades, and if they get that there wil definitly host the olympics. You are just as likely to get a disease in Africa as if you were to go to South America, Middle East, Europe, Asia, or Austrella. South Africa, and Egypt would be the logical two choices. But, people do travel to Africa, and if they were to host the olympics, people would go.

No. The Olympics usually lose money for the hosting nation and there isn't an African nation that can afford them. If they had that kind of money, they should be spending it on trying to improve the lives of their citizens, not a sporting event.

I think so. Probably South Africa at this point. I think it would be great for the world to have an Olympic games in Africa or South America. I'm sick of the games being in the US or Europe.

I prefer apartheid-free South Africa. Egypt is another good choice, but due to bomb attacks on foreign tourists and other targets by Muslim extremists (mainly the banned Muslim Brotherhood, and other al-Qaeda-affiliated groups), it's not the suitable place to hold the summer games. Security problems could be the key.

I'm sure. Most likely Egypt or South Africa. Maybe some counties will do it together, like Japan and South Korea did for footbal championship in 2002.

Maybe Angelina Jolie can push for it. Of course she wouldn't let photographers or journalists in.
